Public Engagement Toolkit

The PET Project

Imagine Lexington encourages anyone seeking a zone change to undertake "meaningful engagement" with stakeholders early and often throughout the process.

In the fall of 2019, the Division of Planning formed an advisory panel made up of developers, community representatives, and residents to help define "meaningful engagement" and development the Public Engagement Toolkit (PET) - an endeavor that has been titled The PET Project.

The goal of the Toolkit is to offer developers guidance and tips for success, while simultaneously empowering Lexington residents to:

  • Understand the development review process

  • Know where to find information about proposed developments

  • Recognize appropriate stages in the process to provide input
